Itinerary
You’ll begin your adventure with a convenient pickup from your Arusha hotel or Moshi/Arusha Airport, followed by a scenic 3-hour drive to the captivating Tarangire National Park. Once there, you’ll embark on a thrilling full-day game drive, witnessing incredible wildlife and dramatic landscapes. During the day, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch inside the park before continuing your exploration. Afterward, you'll head to the Lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.
Tarangire is known for its impressive herds of up to 300 elephants, who scrape the waterless riverbeds in search of hidden streams.
You'll also encounter a remarkable variety of wildlife, from nomadic wildebeest, zebras, and buffalo, to impalas, gazelles, hartebeests, and elands gathered around shrinking lagoons.
As one of the most wildlife-rich areas outside the Serengeti ecosystem, Tarangire provides an incredible setting for predators to thrive. It’s also home to unique dry-country antelope species, such as the elegant fringe-eared oryx and the curious long-necked gerenuk. Tarangire stands out as the only park in Tanzania where migratory animals gather during the dry season, creating an exceptional wildlife spectacle that’s truly one of a kind.
Accommodation: Kankari Lodge
After an early breakfast, we begin our journey to Serengeti National Park, traveling through the scenic farmlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
As we leave the highlands behind, you'll be welcomed by the endless plains of the Serengeti, where the true spirit of wild Africa unfolds before your eyes.
Our journey continues to the central region of the park, the Seronera area, renowned for its abundance of wildlife. The Seronera River, a vital water source, attracts a variety of animals, offering opportunities to witness the diversity of the Serengeti’s species.
Arriving just in time for lunch, you'll have the chance to relax before heading out on an exciting afternoon game drive through the Serengeti’s vast landscapes.
Accommodation: Shuhudia Tented Lodge
In the morning, we undertake our en-route game drive to the Northern region of the Serengeti. Stretching from Seronera for about 100km, the Northern Serengeti is a gently rolling countryside broken by small rivers, occasional hills, and kopjes. Here resides a multitudinous
permanent population of wildlife, with also very striking geological occurrences such as then beautiful Lobo Kopje. The Northern Serengeti is an interesting and varied country that is far from the park’s main entry point in the south hence receiving fewer visitors.
The migration is found in this area during August and we may with luck witness the most spectacular river crossings as the herd attempt to cross the Mara River and avoid the strong currents and hungry crocodiles. After a full day, we head for our accommodation where we enjoy dinner and our night of sleep under the magnificent African sky out upon the ‘Endless Plain’
Accommodation: Serengeti Heritage Tented Camp (Mara) / Acacia Migration
After an early breakfast, you will head out to make the most of the day. There is a chance you may see the animals crossing the Mara River. Hundreds of thousands of desperate wildebeest gather together on the banks of the river, gazing wistfully across the turbulent water at the green grass on the other side but no animal will make a move.
All it takes is one brave wildebeest to take the literal plunge and, then, all follow! The animals that do successfully avoid the awaiting crocodile jaws and make it over the river are rewarded with the lush green grazing grass of the
Masai Mara.
Accommodation: Serengeti Heritage Tented Camp (Mara) / Acacia Migration
After an early morning game drive, you will return to Seronera with further opportunities to experience the incredible wildlife and natural beauty of the Serengeti. Apart from the migrating herds, we may have the opportunity to see the resident predators, leopard, cheetah, and lion, fulfilling their role in the circle of life. After an extensive game drive, we head for our Accommodation for a hearty dinner and another night by the fire of relaxation and conversation under the sweeping majesty of the star bright African night out upon the ‘Endless Plain’.
Accommodation: Shuhudia Tented Lodge
Start your day with an early morning game drive through the Serengeti, where you'll have the opportunity to visit the famous Hippo Pools and the Seronera Visitor’s Center, should you wish. After a delicious breakfast at the bush camp, you'll continue your game drive, retracing your route towards Naabi Hill Gate. In the early afternoon, you'll head back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving at your lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.
For your overnight accommodation, you’ll stay at a comfortable mid-range lodge, such as Ang’ata Tented Lodge.
After an early breakfast, you'll descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll have the opportunity to observe a stunning array of wildlife. Thanks to its year-round water supply and abundant vegetation, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to a diverse range of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthogs, hippos, and majestic African elephants.
A highlight of the crater is its impressive population of predators. Here, you can spot lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and, with a bit of luck, the elusive leopard, which can be tricky to find without a trained eye. During your visit, we’ll also stop at Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake located in the southwestern corner of the crater, known for its vibrant birdlife.
You’ll often see flamingos, hippos, and various other water birds at the lake. In the late afternoon, we’ll transfer you back to Arusha for dinner and your overnight stay.
Alternatively, if you’re heading to Zanzibar, we can arrange an airport drop-off. (Accommodation can be added upon request for an additional cost.)
